This is what a lizard does...

This is Margaret's impersonation of a lizard. She's started to stick her tongue out more and more - and she thinks it's funny when I accidentally touch her tongue or just under her lip to get her to stick out her tongue. It's almost as if she's tasting something in the air... Posted by Picasa

Learning to Smile on demand...

This is one of Margaret's first real smiles in response to something I said. She's started to smile a lot more now - and interract with Savannah when Savannah wants to play with her. It's fun to see the two of them sit and smile at each other. Posted by Picasa

Knot her style...

So I learned how to knit using one of those easy circle things - and this is the first thing that I made... the hat, that is. It was the right size, but Margaret - as you can see, HATES IT! I'm not sure if she doesn't like the color, or if she didn't want me to take her picture in it - after all, it does have some mistakes, and it wasn't what I was expecting. It was fun to make though, and now Savannah is asking me regularly, "when am i going to knit again?" The reason she asks? She's the whole reason I learned how to knit. She wanted to do it. And her attention span lasted long enough to ask the question - although she did go a few rounds on another hat that she now wears constantly... perhaps when she's older. Posted by Picasa

The babe in sweet repose...

Many tiny fingers...
And a babe in sweet repose.

Sisters

Margaret at 5 weeks old - Savannah in her 4th year...

Miss Margaret has gained some weight - from her last Doctor's appointment when she weighed in at 6 lbs 13 oz to MY last doctor's appointment when she weighed in at 10 lbs - pretty much on the nose... her evenings are spent eating... mine are spent on the couch. Posted by Picasa

Margaret

Here she is at 17 days old... she's already doing really well at holding her head up and she's very alert (when she's awake...) this is a rare glimpse of her fully awake. Still not sure what color her eyes are going to be, but we'll know in a few weeks! Posted by Picasa

We decided to name our own little Stahr...

Meet Margaret Elizabeth Stahr.

Born 1 February 2006 at 1:20 PM, I weighed in at 6 lbs, 11.7 oz. I am 19 inches tall and the doctor told my Mom that I have a perfectly formed head. This picture was taken before they decided that I have a little jaundice, but I'm a good eater, so that will go away. My big sister thinks I'm the coolest new toy that she has (Mom and Dad are working on that...), and my Parents think I'm about the cooest miracle to come to their house in a long time.

So far I've been a really good baby for my parents (they're hoping that doesn't change, but I'm not guaranteeing anything!). I love to snuggle with my Mom and Dad, and I'm a really good eater and sleeper (and pooper too...). The journey here probably wasn't as long as the doctor's wanted it to be, but I'm glad to be here, and I know my Mom is glad too! (Daddy is just as pleased as punch - and I'm glad his boss gave him the time off to spend with me just after I came!) Posted by Picasa

Just call me Spike...

But only if you're talking about the hair. It's all pokey-upey. It's really soft, so I'm sure in a little bit I'll be thoroughly tired of people rubbing their hands through it, but like the chandelier at home, it's guaranteed to get questions and remarks! Not a single person comes to our house without making some comment about the kitchen light... and the same was true at the hospital. Every person who came to visit had something to say about my hair! Maybe I'll have Mom invest in some gel or something.... Posted by Picasa

I really do have eyes!

We're not sure what color these beauties are going to be, but for now... this sight is a rarety. Usually she sleeps with one eye open, or she winks at you as if to say, "I'm not sure about you, but this light is way too over-rated!" Posted by Picasa

Spiders getting ready for Halloween

This particular web was just outside the door... I think it's one that I may have walked through (America's Funniest would have had a hey-day with that one!) and that the spider repaired... but we thought it was cool with the dew on it in the morning... sure helped us to not have to buy any of the fake web stuff for Halloween! Posted by Picasa

Decorating

Decorating for Halloween is easy when you get the spiders involved... Posted by Picasa

Clowning Around...

So this is the clown costume that I made for Savannah for Halloween. She picked out the fabrics, and I made the costume... twice. Next year, I'm making a hat. That's all I'm doing. At least with a hat, I won't worry about cutting the costume out upside down or inside out or backwards or something so that I end up trying to figure out how to get it together! And there will be no trips to the fabric store and standing in line for 45 minutes for 1 yard of fabric that I shouldn't have to get... sometimes I think it would be easier to buy a costume, but what's the fun for me in that? Savannah was adorable in her costume, and loved to wear it and make her funny face. Personally, I think it turned out just fine... we'll see what she chooses next year... hopefully another "2-hour" project... (turned into 9 hours...) Posted by Picasa

Halloween Night after Trick or treating

This was Savannah's first time trick or treating - she had a blast, and so did we! Andrew and I were grateful that Savannah was polite and didn't want to go to all the houses in the neighborhood... we went up one side of the street and down the other, and she was ready for some hot chocolate. Her candy has since been forgotten about, and the costume in the wash - somehow it got all sticky... I'm thinking it was a sucker or something. It was fun though! Posted by Picasa

Halloween -

Andrew was a Longshoreman on vacation, Savannah was a clown, and I was wearing a cowboy costume. This was taken Halloween night at the Stahr's in front of their fireplace. We just couldn't get Savannah to look at the camera... Posted by Picasa

A Stahr Gathering - for Pumpkin Carving

This is almost everyone who carved pumpkins - Aunt Patty isn't in the picture because she said she didn't carve a pumpkin (and that's the truth - I didn't carve a pumpkin either, but I still somehow managed to be in the photo... Not sure how that happened, but...)

We had new people this year - more family: Angie and Ben Barnum and their family and Russell Swalberg, from Aunt Margaret's line. Posted by Picasa

Pumpkins, pumpkins, everywhere...

Savannah's pumpkin in the second little one - next to the one on it's side, not the one with the teeth. She was very proud of the fact that her pumpkin looked like her - at least that's the claim she was making! She scraped the seeds and everything - with help from Dad. Mom was inside making sure the buffet table had food for anyone who wanted to eat, and helping to keep the kids from playing with things they shouldn't have been. Posted by Picasa

Clowning Around

Savannah claims that this is the kind of face that clowns make. She pulled this one every time someone asked her about her costume - usually went something like this: "I'm a clown. Wanna see my clown face?" And then even if the answer was no, she pulled this face. Her costume took FOREVER to make, but only because I cut the same side out twice... oh well. Next year, she'll be able to choose which clown costume she wants to wear! Our Halloween box is starting to look like Moms... (it's a good thing, trust me.) Posted by Picasa

Pumpkin Carving at the Stahr's

This is Andrew as a Longshoreman - not a construction worker... the side of his hard hat says Port of Portland. As you can see, this is the result of his long time spent carving. Posted by Picasa
